His father, who is an accountant, points out that he's always been a very hard worker--and that's why, when he finally succeeded in getting into NASA's astronaut program after failing the entrance exam 11 times, he said, "I found out there are three stages to reach your goal: the first stage is having minimal requirements, like going to school to learn medicine and passing exams to become a doctor, and having experience in a certain field like being a pilot. You also have to be able to pass a physical test to become an astronaut. The second stage is to share your knowledge and experience with others who are already successful and try to be like them. And the third stage is to stand out from the competition." José Hernández Moreno went on to become a pilot and fly for a Russian airline, helping them control their nuclear material. Despite being rejected by the NASA 100 times, he was finally selected for a mission in 2013. This video shares his story of perseverance and how it's helped him achieve his goals
